Felipe Santi, CTO of Sismotur, leads the internationalization of UNE 178503 Standard towards ISO
June 2023 – Felipe Santi, CTO of Sismotur, plays a key role in the international standardization of smart tourism by coordinating the Working Group responsible for elevating the Spanish UNE 178503 “Semantics applied to Smart Tourist Destinations (STD)” to an ISO Standard.
The UNE 178503 Standard, which defines a semantic framework for data interoperability in STDs, has been essential for improving the management and promotion of tourist destinations at a national level. Its conversion into an ISO standard will enable this framework to be adopted globally, facilitating data exchange and innovation in tourism management on an international scale.
Felipe Santi emphasized the significance of this step: “The internationalization of this standard reinforces the commitment of Smart Tourist Destinations to continuous improvement and technological adaptation. Elevating it to an ISO standard will allow destinations worldwide to adopt a common language to manage and share information, optimizing the traveler experience.”
Santi’s coordination of this project highlights Sismotur’s leadership in digitalization and smart tourism, promoting the creation of standards that facilitate the digital transformation of the global tourism sector. The future ISO Standard is set to become a key pillar for the development of more competitive, connected, and sustainable destinations worldwide.
